At ROSEN, we are dedicated to advancing #industryknowledge, particularly in emerging energy sectors, and thrive on partnerships with pioneering institutes to maximize our impact. That's why we are excited to share the success of our recent collaboration between our #CompetenceClub and the The University of British Columbia’s Pipeline Integrity Institute. Together, we hosted a two-day transformative training course in Calgary, led by the esteemed Neil Gallon, focusing on cutting-edge practices and innovations in #Hydrogen #Pipeline Integrity. We are proud to say that this collaboration was a resounding success, underscoring our commitment to continuous learning and pushing the boundaries of what's achievable in our field. A heartfelt thank you to all participants, organizers, and especially to Neil Gallon, Shannon Remillong, Michelle Unger, Arti Bhatia, Rhonda Gwynn and Nicole Armstrong for making this event truly exceptional. Stay tuned for more collaborative training initiatives that drive innovation and excellence in our industry! 🚀 #empoweredbytechnology #UBCPII #PipelineIntegrity #ContinuousLearning

In today’s world of #bigdata, every inspection or technical service generates vast amounts of measurement and operational data. This raw data is cleaned, interpreted, and analyzed to transform it into valuable information that in turn leads to informed decision-making. The use of #artificialintelligence has become indispensable in this process. We use #AI techniques to provide experts with asset-related data, streamlining real-time decisions for asset safety. Moreover, #machinelearning and AI models not only improve decision support but also enable proactive prediction and mitigation of potential threats, allowing us to stay ahead of challenges and effectively minimize their impact. In the March issue of the Pipeline & Gas Journal the article "Pipeline Movement, Landslides Navigated with Technology" by our expert Daniel Bahrenburg, P.E. has been published. Bearing the responsibility of ensuring the continuous flow of energy resources through vast networks of #pipelines, the custodians of pipeline integrity face an ever-present challenge: geohazards. From seismic shifts to #landslides, these relentless forces pose an intriguing and formidable threat that demands our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the arteries of energy transportation. Join the front lines of the unseen battles beneath our feet, where the fusion of engineering precision and an innovative strategy is redefining the way in which we manage and mitigate the likelihood of #geohazards impacting our #pipelinesystems. We are in the middle of the Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) in Berlin. At our booth we are not only discussing exciting topics, but also collecting data with our game 'Pipeline Inspector', which is based on the game 'FROG' from the 90s. Yesterday was also the YPI Awards Ceremony where the 'Early Achievement Award' for individuals with less than 10 years of experience in the #pipelineindustry and the 'Emerging Young Pipeline Professional Award' for full-time students working in the industry were presented. Erik Cornelissen had the pleasure of introducing the awards and meeting the two lucky winners, Toon De Bruyne and Nikolaos Makrakis. #empowerdbytechnology #ptcBerlin EITEP Euro Institute for Information and Technology Transfer in Environmental Protection Kate Stratogianni Dennis Fandrich Young Pipeline Professionals Europe (YPPE) YPI - Young Pipeliners International

Our Co-CEO Erik Cornelissen is at Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) today! ”A real pleasure to be back in Berlin, attending the 19th PTC. My first feedback so far: Future has become reality: Our industry is massively involved in the #energytransition, a great focus on #CCS and transportation and use of hydrogen. In this context, ROSEN acknowledges its responsibility to make a fundamental contribution to a more #sustainablefuture: using integrity expertise and technology to accompany the transition safely and efficiently. Great interest in yesterday's seminar by Neil Gallon confirms that we are recognized as trusted party. Challenges in several areas ahead: The operational safety of #pipelines and the security of supply remain global tasks, as does the avoidance of methane gas emissions (both large and small scale). Mastering the extremely growing amounts of #data generated by precise inspection technology but as well other sources is becoming an increasingly important issue. The importance of artificial intelligence, its possibilities and risks are recognized and fully embraced as needed. Added to this, I see the need for continued materials research and the development of standards for the use of #hydrogen in existing systems. All in all, the PTC is already THE industry event 2024 in Europe. Looking forward to further expert discussions with the #PipelineCommunity. Thanks to the advisory committee headed by Dirk Strack, Marian Ritter and Dennis Fandrich!“ #empoweredbytechnology

Like father, like son! This time, we talked to Andrew and Matthew who both have started their ROSEN careers in 2022. Their shared passion lies in #dataanalytics with backgrounds in #mathematics. How is it for them to be father and son but also direct colleagues? Having found his way in #pipeline inspection, Andrew is happy to have his son in the same crew. Whilst facing the challenge to detach as father, Matthew is excited to combine first practical experience at ROSEN with a university degree. As Andrew and Matthew get on well, also because they don't necessarily have to see each other on a daily basis due to #remotework options, they enjoy the shared office. “I don’t think I could do this with my mom,” Matthew laughs. Talking to them, it became clear how much they value ROSEN as a place where they can develop their #fathersonrelationship as well as their colleague relationship and support them in #pipelineinspection! #empoweredbytechnology

#Pipelines have a remarkable capacity to navigate the bend-or-break enigma. While pipelines do contain intentional bends formed during manufacturing (fabricated bends) and construction (field bends), the #stresses and #strains associated with these #bends are generally carefully considered during the pipeline's design phase. However, unforeseen loads experienced during construction or while in service can induce undesirable bending, resulting in stresses or strains that may surpass safe limits. When excessive compressive stresses occur on the inside of a bend, localized buckling and wrinkling can transpire. On the other hand, tensile stresses on the outside of a bend can lead to fractures, particularly if there is an anomaly in the pipe wall, such as circumferential #cracking. Numerous factors can cause bending loads, including landslides. In this case, an operator experienced #pipemovement on one of their assets due to a #landslide. This particular pipeline had the added risk due to its vicinity to a river crossing. This would result in a far higher consequence in the event of a leak.
